Please join Kyoto University and S&R Foundation on Wednesday, March 17
from 9:00-10:00AM JST (Tuesday, March 16 from 8:00-9:00PM EDT or
5:00-6:00PM PDT) for a discussion on maintaining curiosity and courage
in challenging times with ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, political
polarization, economic upheaval, and other global 21st century
challenges. Featuring speakers 2018 Nobel Prize Laureate Dr. Tasuku
Honjo, Deputy Director-General, at Kyoto University Institute for
Advanced Study and Director of the Center for Cancer Immunotherapy and
Immunobiology (CCII) at Kyoto University, and with Minister Kenichiro
Mukai, Head of Chancery, Embassy of Japan in Washington, DC and
Chairman of the DC area Kyodai-kai as they share stories about their
day-to-day work, accomplishments, and aspirations in pursuit of a more
harmonious future. This discussion will be moderated by Dr. Yoshiko
Akamatsu, Senior Principal Research Scientist in Silicon Valley at
AbbVie Inc, a pharmaceutical company, President of the Japan Bio
Community, and Kyoto University alumna.
This webinar is provided free of charge. The main spoken language for
this webinar will be Japanese; however, simultaneous interpretation
will be provided for English and Japanese. The first 1000 registrants
to sign into the webinar will be admitted. This webinar will be
streamed live in Japanese on S&R Foundation’s Facebook page. The
English language video will be available on Kyoto University’s YouTube
channel following the event.
